Sustainable Recycling Management

Trust in Q3 and be SuRe your waste streams are managed safely, efficiently and compliantly

Typically, in the commercial world, decisions about waste disposal focus on how much waste you can get rid of at least cost which is coming at then problem from the wrong end. Understanding how and why you are creating the waste and realising ways you can avoid it, makes much more sense. Adopt waste hierarchy strategies to reduce, reuse, recycle BEFORE you opt to remove.

At Q3 we are experts in recycling and environmental sustainability, able to advise your organisation on ways to manage your waste streams, ensuring you are both legally compliant and treating waste as a potential resource.

At Q3, we call our approach Sustainable Recycling Management, or SuRe for short.

Why should you be SuRe?

Sustainability is featuring in the corporate business agenda as never before. The UK Government has placed sustainability as a central pillar of the plan for economic recovery, post-Covid pandemic. And the pressure is being increased on all businesses to think responsibly and act accordingly. Q3’s Sustainable Recycling Management solution can be your roadmap to a sustainable future.

Our team comprises many diverse experts, with years of experience and a deep understanding of this highly regulated business. We apply best practice and invest in people who really understand this market. So, there are very few things we don’t know how to tackle in this complex area.

We’ll help you achieve Zero waste to landfill and statutory compliance. We’ll apply our imagination to deliver novel recycling ideas to provide new life for otherwise discarded waste materials. We’ll access rebates on your behalf and deliver cost-savings through the implementation of sustainability strategies. And we’ll help you achieve a position where you can be proud of your Corporate Social Responsibility credentials.

How can you be SuRe?

Our approach is consultative but at the same time, we operate in a totally hands-on way. We apply our specialist knowledge and experience to resolve your specific waste problems. We don’t own any specialist plant, equipment or landfill facilities and because we are not wedded to any one technology or supplier, we can think and operate impartially.

We’ll propose a bespoke solution that could involve multiple suppliers, knowing that it may not be the easiest option – but because it’s the best, most effective and cost-efficient solution for your organisation. And, we have a unique approach to supply-chain management, backed by a network of specialists to help deliver that solution.

Our process is simple and it works:

  • We evaluate your waste stream challenges
  • We apply a reduce-reuse-recycle methodology to solving the problems
  • We build a supply-chain solution and manage it to the finest detail
  • We’re already delivering SuRe nationally for a range of important clients across numerous sectors including automotive, manufacturing and public sector

Testimonials

I just wanted to send in my thanks to Emma, who helped me on Saturday when my Mum passed out in front of TK Maxx. Emma was very friendly, calm and efficient, I don't know what I would have done without her. She was so professional and knew exactly what was needed I couldn't believe it when screens turned up and a wheel chair, all organised by Emma without making myself or especially my Mum feel stupid or an inconvenience. Please can you pass on mine, my Mum's and family's thanks to Emma, she is a star and a very kind person.

Frequently ask questions

Are you registered as a licensed waste carrier?

Yes. Q3 only works with appropriately licensed and approved waste carriers and specialist partners. Where waste is collected, transported, treated or recycled on behalf of a client, we ensure the correct registrations, permits and documentation are in place, helping you manage your waste streams safely, legally and responsibly.

What is our legal duty of care when it comes to waste disposal?

As a business, you have a legal duty of care to make sure your waste is stored, transferred and disposed of responsibly. This means using authorised waste carriers, describing waste accurately, preventing harm to people or the environment, and keeping the correct waste transfer or consignment records. Q3 helps clients meet these obligations by managing waste through compliant processes, approved suppliers and clear documentation.

What waste streams do you cover?

We can support a wide range of commercial waste streams, depending on your site, sector and operational needs. This may include general waste, mixed recycling, paper and cardboard, food waste, glass, confidential waste, bulky waste, WEEE and other specialist or regulated streams. Our role is to help you identify the most appropriate route for each material, with reuse, recycling and recovery prioritised wherever possible.

Can waste management be delivered as part of a wider FM contract?

Yes, and this is the way Q3 usually works. Waste management can be delivered as a standalone service or integrated into a wider facilities management contract. Many clients choose to combine waste management with services such as cleaning, maintenance, grounds care, helpdesk support and compliance management, giving them one coordinated approach, clearer accountability and more consistent reporting across their estate.

How do you support our ESG and sustainability reporting?

We support ESG and sustainability reporting by helping clients understand what waste is being produced, how it is being managed and where improvements can be made. This can include waste stream analysis, recycling and diversion-from-landfill data, supplier information, improvement plans and practical recommendations to reduce waste at source. Our aim is to turn waste reporting into useful insight, not just paperwork.

What are recycling rebates and how do they work?

Recycling rebates are payments or credits that may be available when certain recyclable materials have a market value, such as cardboard, metals or other recoverable materials. Where rebates are achievable, Q3 works with its supply chain to identify the opportunity, manage the process transparently and help clients benefit from the value of materials that might otherwise be treated simply as waste.

How is your supply chain of approved contractors managed and audited?

Our approved contractor network is managed through due diligence, compliance checks and ongoing review. We check that suppliers hold the appropriate licences, permits, insurance and operating standards for the services they provide. Performance can then be monitored through service reviews, documentation checks, reporting, issue management and periodic benchmarking, helping ensure clients receive safe, compliant and good-value waste services.

Is waste management your only service?

No. Waste management and recycling is one part of Q3’s wider facilities management offer. We also provide services across cleaning, technical maintenance, security, grounds maintenance, integrated FM, compliance, helpdesk support and workplace services. This means clients can choose waste management as a single specialist service or bring it together with other facilities services under one managed contract.
